Ryan Ramsey Conducting Training

Whether you want to have an obedient house dog, a dog that will protect your family or property, or a working dog we customize our training packages to your needs. We train all dog breeds, not just German Shepherds.

Applejack starts with a free evaluation of your dog.

We talk with you to determine any problems you may be encountering and develop a customized training package.

We board and train your dog at our facility for 7 business days.  Each day your dog will receive professional training, exercise, and play.  We will teach your dog a 13-command routine and modify the behavior you’re having problems with.

Upon completion we will reintroduce you to your dog and you will receive weekly private lessons.  As you become more comfortable handling your dog on the leash you will receive weekly group lessons.

Unlike other obedience classes, we do not set a limit on the number of classes needed to complete your training package.  It takes what it takes.

About the Elite Registry of Working Dogs (ERWD)

Photo of Douglas (Doug) A. Ramsey

The Elite Registry of Working Dogs (ERWD) was founded in 1987 by Douglas A. Ramsey on the premise that a dog with proper training has the potential to become enormously more than just a family pet or show dog. Almost any dog will come, sit, and down before six months of age. However, getting a dog to settle down, focus, sit straight, and work in unison with the handler is another matter.

Completing Basic Obedience Modification is the foundation for any working dog team. It sets the tempo for a strong relationship. The ERWD Basic and ERWD Advanced (Off-Leash) classes prepare the dog and handler for ERWD trials and testing.

Advanced Training Courses

Completing our basic obedience training and behavior modification course is a prerequisite for all advanced courses.

Off Leash Obedience

Training is performed off leash and around distractions like people, kids, and other dogs. The dog and owner/handler will develop the skills, focus, and confidence to handle most situations they might encounter off leash in a safe and controlled environment.

Personal & Family Protection

A personal protector or bodyguard is a well-mannered and disciplined companion. Applejack K-9 Academy offers protective training geared towards the family or business environment. Each dog is customized for the life style and environment it is to live in.

Agility & Utility

Our two onsite Agility & Utility courses offer a variety of jumps, tunnels, walls, and specially designed obstacles.  Agility and Utility is designed to build stronger trust between the dog and handler. Our preliminary obstacle course is available to anyone who has started Basic Obedience.

Tracking and Air Scenting

These courses are designed to introduce you and your dog to the techniques used by Search and Rescue Teams. You and your dog will become a team. Our tracking groups always enjoy the time they spend in this course and often form a bond with each other.

Drug Course

We offer Basic and Advanced courses designed to teach you and your dog the general concepts and techniques for conducting drug searches.  Dogs are taught to detect marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and LSD.
